Sheridan, Wyo. (July 24, 2014) – A small lightning-caused fire is burning near Roane Creek in the Bighorn National Forest.

     The half-acre fire is burning in timber and grass about 2 ½ miles south of U.S. Highway 14A in the Pete’s Hole area.

Traci Ann Schladweiler has been selected for a James Madison Fellowship. Ms. Schladweiler is a teacher at Wright Junior-Senior High School. The Madison Fellowship is awarded to one teacher in each state. Ms. Schladweiler is Wyoming’s recipient for the 2014 school year. The fellowship is a grant of $24,000 dollars for the recipient to earn a Master’s degree in American government

Warmer and dry weather has become the norm as of late, and with that comes the instituting of partial fire restrictions from Sheridan County. The County notes that forest and grass fire danger is critical. Starting July 28th, all public and private lands in the county, including those in the Big Horn National Forest will be effected.

A former Big Horn Basin broadcaster was sentenced on charges of voter fraud Wednesday. David Koch appeared in Park County District Court for a change of plea hearing that was originally scheduled for Thursday.

The Dilworth Fire on the Shoshone National Forest is still listed as active. The 2.5 acres fire was reported early Sunday afternoon. By Monday, the fire had consumed six acres and was growing in size.
