The top-ranked Gillette Camel Boys basketball team improved to 15-3, Friday night, with a 72-62 win over third-ranked Sheridan.
The lead changed hands frequently over the first three quarters of play, but the Camels outscored the Broncs, 18-11, in the fourth to come away with a ten point win. Gillette held Sheridan without a field goal, in the final period, until the final minute of the game when the Broncs’ Reed Ritterbusch hit a three-pointer to cut the Camel lead from 13 to 10.
Cody Kelley led the way with 21 points, as one of four Gillette players in double figures. Bryce Lyman came off the bench and scored 15, which included decisive three-point shots in each of the second, third and fourth quarters. Seth Moerkerke and Garrett Schempp each chipped in twelve.
Ritterbusch was the game’s high scorer with 24.
Gillette will be on the road, next weekend, with games in Laramie, on Friday, and at Cheyenne South on Saturday. Friday’s game starts at 7:30, with coverage underway at 7:15 on 97.3 Camel FM and www.basinsradio.com.
