GILLETTE, Wyo.--The Gillette College Pronghorn women (6-19, 3-9) never allowed Central Wyoming College (11-13, 5-7) to take the lead in Saturday afternoon's 76-62 win at the South Campus.
Central Wyoming was able to tie the game once at seven and kept it close through most of the game, but Gillette College just made a couple more shots from the field to stay in front.
Despite turning the ball over 17 times and being out-rebounded 15-14, the Pronghorns took a 31-27 lead into the locker room at halftime.
In the second half, Alicia Carline came off the bench to lead the Pronghorns with 16 points in the period.. Carline finished with the game-high of 22 points.
Kallee Wilson's return after sitting out against Miles Community College due to an injury showed as well. Wilson had 12 points in the first half and ended the game with 17 points. Kiela Garner helped pad the Pronghorns lead late in the game by going six for six from the charity stripe.
Chelsie Pitt injured her right ankle in the first half. She had a boot on by the second half and will be day-to-day.
Central Wyoming was led by McKenley Helistern with 21 points, almost twice her average.
The Pronghorn women go on the road to Glendive, Mont. on Wednesday to play Dawson Community College. Dawson is at the front of the race to host the Region IX tournament.
