GILLETTE, Wyo.--The (19) Gillette College Pronghorns (22-3, 11-1) came into Saturday's game against Central Wyoming College (12-13, 6-7) with 99 wins in the school's five-year history. It wasn't easy, but the Pronghorns got their 100th victory with an 87-75 final.
The first half started out rough for Gillette College, with Central Wyoming holding a 10-point lead a couple of times in the period. Gillette College was able to come back at 27-25, but couldn't hold on to the lead. Central Wyoming took a 35-34 lead at intermission.
In the second half, the fans at the game got a show. There were 15 ties and lead changes in the second period. Gillette College took the final lead change at 60-57. Renard Suggs and Muhammad Ahmed anchored the Pronghorns on the scoreboard in the second half. Sarp Gobeloglu also made two big three-pointers to keep the momentum in favor of Gillette College.
Gillette College took advantage of opportunities from the free throw line down the stretch in the half. The Pronghorns went nine for 12 from the charity stripe in the second stanza.
Suggs led all players with 22 points, while Daryle Morgan, Jr. led Central Wyoming with 20 points.
The Pronghorns travel to Dawson Community College in Glendive, Mont. on Wednesday.
