WYDOT Update: October 5, 2013 – 5:45 p.m.

wydotWyoming Department of Transportation maintenance crews have worked long and hard throughout northeast Wyoming today to clear roads and get the traveling public to their destinations.  

Most roads in Northeast Wyoming have been re-opened, however a few remain closed, the following is a list of roads openings/closures and conditions.

 

Interstate Routes

I-90

- Open EAST bound from Montana State Line to Gillette

-  Open WEST bound from Moorcroft to the Montana State Line

- Closed EAST bound from Moorcroft to the South Dakota State Line - this is at the request of South Dakota, at this time we have no estimate as to when South Dakota will open.

- Closed WEST bound from the South Dakota State Line to Gillette, as soon as South Dakota opens we will open in Wyoming, we do not have an estimated time for opening in South Dakota.

BUFFALO AREA – All open roads in the Buffalo area are wet.

SHERIDAN AREA - All roads in the Sheridan area are open current conditions are a wet, slick in spots

GILLETTE AREA

All roads in the Gillette area that are open are wet to slick in spots

WY 50

-       Open from Gillette to Clarkelen Road

-        Closed from Clarkelen road to WY 387, Pine Tree Junction

WY 387

-       Closed from Wright to Pine Tree Junction

SUNDANCE AREA

All roads in the Sundance area remain closed with the exception of US 14 from Carlile to Sundance

US 14

-        Open from Carlile to Sundance

WY 111

-        Closed from Aladdin to I-90

WY 116

-        Closed from Sundance to Upton

-        Closed from Upton to Junction of Hwy 450 (12:40 p.m.)

WY 585

-        Closed from Sundance to Four Corners

US 212

-        Closed from Montana State Line to South Dakota State Line

WY 112

-        Closed from Hulett to the Montana State Line

WY 24

-        Closed from US 14 to Hulett

-        Closed from Hulett to the South Dakota State Line

NEWCASTLE AREA

Most roads in the Newcastle Area are wet, slick in spots. The following roads remain closed.

US 85

-        Closed from Newcastle to the South Dakota State Line

-        Closed from Newcastle to Lusk

US 116

-        Closed from Upton to WYO 450

  As roads do re-open  “WYDOT is asking motorists to be watchful for our snowplows and slow down when they see the flashing lights,” said Ronda Holwell, Public Involvement Specialist for District 4, remember “plows are clearing the road to make it safer for, you, the traveling public”.

Holwell urges drivers to “slow down, slow down, slow down!” Also, “Motorist need to have patience and stay with the flow of traffic, even if traffic is only going 40 mph, this will make it safer for WYDOT plows and the traveling public” said Holwell
