Pronghorn men fight off late threat, women lose to Snow College on the road

The Gillette College Pronghorn men fought off a late comback by the SoCo Kings to go to 9-2 on the season in a 106-93 victory. The Pronghorn women (8-3) lost on the road to Snow College, 71-62, on Saturday.

The men led by as many as 16 points in the contest against the Kings, but SoCo stayed in the contest throughout. Gillette College had a 56-46 lead at half time.

In the second half, the gap on the scoreboard see-sawed from over ten in favor of Gillette College to the Kings trailing by seven points. However, with an 84-77 lead in favor of Gillette and 6:20 left to go in the game, the Kings were able to get some big defensive rebounds to push it up the floor to tie it at 90 with 4:30 left in the match. The Kings took a brief 92-90 lead before Gillette College strapped down and would finish the game with a 16-1 run to take stave off the late threat by SoCo.

Six Pronghorns finished with double digits and were led by Muhammed Ahmed's 35 points. Lorenzo Bonham finished with a double-double after netting 14 rebounds and 15 points.

The Pronghorn women fell behind by 17 points early to Snow College according to the teams facebook page and couldn't get closer than eight points.

Both Pronghorn squads head to Powell, Wyo. on Wednesday to start the Region IX portion of the season against Northwest College. The Pronghorns return to the South Campus on Saturday to play rival Sheridan College. The games against Sheridan College can be heard on 93.3 The Legend and online at https://www.network1sports.com/station/kled. The women play at 5:30pm, the men at 7:30pm.
