Gillette Takes First in Pat Weede Wrestling Tourney

The Gillette Camel wrestling team hosted the Pat Weede Tournament, Friday and Saturday, and took first out of eight teams.

Moorcroft placed fifth and Newcastle-Upton took seventh.

Gillette’s Evan Smith was the champion in the 120 pound weight class, as he won all seven of his matches. Alex LaCasse did the same at 145 pounds. Kris Miller claimed the 152 pound title, as did Jordan Fischer at 160 pounds. Luke Sather was the 195 pound champion.

Fischer was named Outstanding Wrestler in a higher weight.

Runners-up, for the Camels, included Michael Cunningham, at 113 pounds; Taylor Jeffries, at 126 pounds; Carson Mock, at 182 pounds; Brandon McKearney, at 220 pounds; and Chance Yaznick in the heavyweight division.

Moorcroft’s Toby Reynolds was a runner-up at 138 pounds, as was the Wolves’ Luke Lovett at 152 pounds.

The Wright Wrestlers took second, over the weekend, at the Wright Christmas Dual Wrestling Invite.
