Gillette Camels start out on right feet in conference play

GILLETTE, Wyo.--It was a tale of two halves in Friday night's game between the Gillette Camels (11-3, 1-0) and Cheyenne South Bison (4-10, 0-1) at The Castle of Champions. In the first half, both teams led multiple times. However, in the second half Gillette ran away from the Bison. The final was 87-69 in favor of the Gillette Camels.

In the first half there were seven lead changes and five ties. The two teams combined for 10 three-pointers in the half. Gillette eventually had a 43-39 lead going into the locker room at halftime.

In the third quarter, Gillette was able to add to its lead with the help of five triples in the period. The Bison tried to stay in it with three, three-pointers and going four of five from the line. The Camels were on top, 64-56, after three periods of play.

In the fourth, South was held to 13 points, while Cody Kelley had a nine-point period. Kelley led the Camels with 23 points, while Cale Miessler finished with 21- all from beyond the arc.

Kyhler Cummings of Cheyenne South led all players with 25 points in the game.
