Riders Split Doubleheader in Rapid City

The Gillette Roughriders opened their season by going 1-1, in a doubleheader, yesterday against Rapid Central.

In the first game, Alex King went 3-for-4 with 4 RBIs, as Gillette won 18-6. Drayson Hladky and Ian Durgin were both 3-for-3. Durgin and Zach Donahoo each had two RBIs. Durgin wis the winning pitcher.

In the second game, Rapid City Central just got by Gillette, 18-17, in a slugfest. The Riders led 17-16, going into the bottom of the 7th inning, but Central scored two in the final frame to get the win.

Tanner Rogen was 4-for-5 with 2 doubles and 3 RBIs for Gillette.

The Riders compete in the Billings Invitational this Saturday and Sunday.

Riders Coach Nate Perleberg says his pitching staff is a work in progress.
