The City of Gillette's Development Services and Utilities Departments announce road and alley closure notices and updates.
The Gurley Overpass from 4th Street to Lincoln Avenue will be closed to through-traffic on Tuesday, April 15th from 9 a.m. to noon. This closure is to allow WYDOT to have an inspection truck on the overpass to perform their two-year inspection of the structure. Please plan accordingly and use Highway 14/16 (2nd Street), Burma Avenue, Brooks Avenue, or Garner Lake Road to cross the railroad tracks.
The City of Gillette's Electrical Services Division will close a half block of 1st Street from Gillette Avenue west to the alley in order to relocate a power pole in preparation for the upcoming Gillette Avenue project. 1st Street will be completely closed to through traffic from Gillette Avenue to the alley west of Gillette Avenue on Monday, April 14th. Please plan accordingly.
Gillette Avenue/1st Street intersection
The Gillette Avenue/1st Street intersection will be closed beginning Wednesday, April 16th through late June. This is Phase 1A of the Gillette Avenue Reconstruction project and will close Gillette Avenue from the Gillette Avenue/1st Street intersection north to the end of the City maintained road. There will be no through-traffic on 1st Street. On the map, please note additional parking for Lula Belle's Cafe to the west of the restaurant Phase 1A map [PDF] and access to Chophouse parking will be available via 1st Street and Gillette Avenue. The intersection of Carey Avenue and 1st Street to 2nd Street as well as Carey Avenue from 2nd Street through the intersection of Carey Avenue and 3rd Street will be closed until Monday, April 21st. 11th Street from Richards Avenue to the alley between Richards Avenue and 4J Road will be closed until April 12th. The alley between 10th Street and 11th Street will be closed approximately 250' heading north from 11th Street. The alley between and parallel to east Laramie Street and east Lincoln Street from Railroad Street east to 100 feet east of north Brooks Avenue will be closed from April 16th through April 23rd. This project is for environmental drilling and groundwater sampling. Traffic Control [PDF]
