Updated: Vehicle Crashed Into Restaurant

Updated: At 4:41 p.m. on May 6th, the Campbell County Fire Department responded to 2107 S. Douglas Highway (Las Margaritas) for a vehicle that drove into the building, causing significant damage to the building and several patrons had minor injuries. The City of Gillette Building Department was contacted to ensure the building was structurally sound. 

Gillette Police Sergeant Joe Baird said the driver was a 16-year-old female. She was traveling east on Country Club Road and lost control at the intersection before impacting the west corner of the restaurant.   Baird said several cans of the product Dust Off where found on the floor of the passenger side. The cans had been purchased about 10 minutes earlier at an address on South Douglas Highway. After a blood draw the girl was addressed as a DWUI suspect.  Baird said the Campbell County Attorney's Office is reviewing the possibility of additional charges.  A preliminary estimate of the damage to the restaurant exceeded $10,000.
