The Gillette Girls and Boys track teams both took first place, Saturday, in Class 4A East Regionals at Cheyenne South.
The Camel Girls finished with over eighty points more than second place Cheyenne Central, and got first place finishes from Abby Phillips, in the 1600 meter run; and the 4x800 meter relay team of Quinn Destefano, Phillips, Haley Urbatsch and Sidney Wendt.
Wendt took second in the 1600 meter run, as did Ruth Sifuma in the triple jump.
Third place finishers, for the Gillette Girls, included Abby Moerkerke, in the 100 meter hurdles; Julia Seamans, in the 300 meter hurdles; Jandey Shackleford, in the triple jump; and Liz Maller, in the discus.
The Gillette boys finished with almost sixty points more than second place Cheyenne East. Tychun Aipperspach took first, for the Camels, in the 200 meter dash; as did Dustin Erisman, in the 400 meter dash. Walker Newell was first in both the 110 and 300 meter hurdles.
The 4x400 meter relay team of Dalton Suchor, Cory Myers, Dalton Wagner, and Erisman placed second.
Third place finishers included Harrison Simmons, in the 1600 meter run; Seth Moerkerke, in the 110 meter hurdles; Beau Nutting, in the triple jump; and the 4x800 meter relay team of Derek Meyers, Justin Mehrer, Cory Myers, and Simmons.
Both Camel teams will compete in the State Track Meet, this Thursday through Saturday, at Kelly Walsh High School in Casper.
