The Gillette Girls Track team captured its second consecutive Class 4A State Championship, Saturday, as the Camels placed first, about 13 points ahead of second place Rock Springs, at the State High School Track and Field Meet in Casper.
The Competition started on Thursday, when the Camels got first, second, and third place finishes from Quinn DiStefano, Sydney Wendt, and Abby Phillips, respectively, in the Girls 3200 Meter Run.
Chandra Sturtz and Ashlynn Erisman took first and second, respectively, in the Girls Pole Vault. DiStefano, Phillips, Haley Urbatsch, and Wendt combined to take first, Thursday, in the 4x800 meter relay.
On Friday, Liz Maller was second in the shot put. Urbatsch placed third in the 800 meter run. The 4x100 meter relay team of Bre Adsit, Jessie Geer, Taylor Deaton, and Julia Seamans finished fourth.
Then on Saturday, Ruth Sifuma took fourth in the 100 meter hurdles. Wendt placed first in the 1600 meter run, with Phillips and DeStfano taking third and fourth in the same event.
