Riders Go 1-1, Thursday, at Cherry Creek Tourney

The Gillette Roughriders went 1-1, in the opening round of the Cherry Creek Tournament, yesterday in Denver.

In the first of their two games, Gillette trailed 7-6, going into the bottom of the ninth inning against Ponderosa. In the bottom of the ninth, Ian Durgin brought home the winning run by hitting into a fielder's choice, and the Riders won 8-7.

Durgin finished with three RBIs. Alex King was 3-for-3 at the plate, one of those hits was a double. Jarran Arbach was 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs.

In the Riders' second game, Gillette was beaten 11-1 by Diamond Club Navy.

The tournament continues Friday and Saturday. Up next, for the Riders, is a matchup with Batters Box, Friday at 11 a.m., from Ponderosa High High School.
