After going 1-1, in the opening round of the Cherry Creek Baseball Tournament on Thursday, the Gillette Roughriders won their final three games of the weekend, Friday and Saturday, in Denver.
Early Friday afternoon, the Riders blanked Batters Box, a Connie Mack team from Denver, 8-0, behind twelve strikeouts from Wyatt Estabrook. Jarran Arbach and Alex King were both 2-for-4 at the plate. Arbach had an RBI.
On Saturday afternoon, the Riders got two RBIs from both Tanner Rogen and Zach Donahoo, on their way to an 8-5 win over Longmont/Erie. Gillette trailed 5-4, after 3 ½ innings, but scored four unanswered runs in the bottom of the fourth to hold the lead for good.
In their second game, Saturday, the Riders closed out the weekend with a 10-6 win over Cherokee Trail. Gillette scored six runs in the first two innings, and then four more in the eighth. Rogen and Alex King were both 3-for-5 with two RBIs. Lucas Rissler also had two RBIs, going 2-for-3 at the plate. Tyler Tennant connected on a double which scored three runs.
The Roughriders are now 25-11, and will be in Rapid City, next weekend, for the Rich Hinseth Tournament, which starts on Friday.
