CCSD Approves Athletic Fields Engineering Services

Written by on February 16, 2017

At Tuesday's Campbell County School District Meeting, trustees discussed athletic fields and sports lighting. Associate Superintendent Kirby Eisenhauer said both items were part of the consent agenda items.

The board approved service contracts for architects. At our board retreat in January, the board indicated that they would like to see some improvements at the North Campus, specifically for soccer. Currently there isn’t a competitive field at that site and as you know, with the two schools split, the Camels will need a place for their competitions. So we initiated some contact with some architects, as far as getting us some conceptual design work, plus some cost estimating of what it would take to address the soccer needs at North Campus.” —- Eisenhauer

Trustee Toni Bell suggested the sports lighting engineering services and athletic fields engineering services both be tabled until an uncertain funding picture is cleared up. She said the two high schools planning on sharing the fields until further notice would be a better option. Trustee Angela Hladky indicated support for that suggestion. A majority of trustees voted not table the items.

There is no intent to build, actually there is no funding behind it at this time. Its just to give us an idea should funding come available what we might do.” — Eisenhauer
