Busy Independence Day For CCFD

Press Release – The Campbell County Fire Department responded to the following incidents:

July 4th, 2017

At 5:46 a.m. to Wolff Road for an emergency medical response, firefighter provided patient care.

At 9:44 a.m. to Phoenix Avenue for an emergency medical response, firefighter provided patient care.

At 10:53 a.m. to Union Chapel Road, Walk-in Area, for a grass fire.  The cause was fireworks and CCFD firefighters were able to quickly contain the fire to just under 1 acre.

At 12:40 p.m. to 600 W Boxelder Road, CC Jail, for an automatic fire alarm activation.  The activation was caused by a sprinkler head being sheared off and causing water to flow.  The detention officers were able to stop the water flow and reset the alarm.

At 4:32 p.m. to 569 Hay Creek Road for a structure fire in a residential building. Crews arrived to find a fully engulfed garage fire and fire coming from the roof of the home. Firefighters were able to control the fire after approximately 3 hours. 2 firefighters were transported by ambulance to CCH with minor injuries.  There are no other known casualties at this time. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

At 8:06 p.m. to 2273 Bishop Road, Bell Ayr Mine, for a request for assistance with a diesel truck fire.  CCFD was cancelled prior to arrival.

NOTE: Firefighters responded to the following fires which differed in size (each still to be reported) and all were caused by fireworks. Many of these were in very close proximity to residential and non-residential structures. Listed is a very brief description of each.  CCFD is aware of numerous other fires caused by fireworks that were not reported and were able to be extinguished without the assistance firefighters.  All fires were extinguished and no personnel remain on any of these fires.  No injuries were reported.

At 8:53 p.m. to 251 Adon Road for a grass fire near sheds and camp trailer.

At 9:15 p.m. to Bear Claw Circle for a grass fire.

At 9:17 p.m. to Bluebird Road for a grass fire.

At 9:22 p.m. to Lemaster Lane for a grass fire.

At 9:35 p.m. to Willow Street for a grass fire.

At 9:51 p.m. to Smithie Road for a grass fire.

At 10:04 p.m. to Spring Hill Road for a grass fire.

At 10:09 p.m. to Tate Avenue for a grass fire.

At 10:11 p.m. until after the conclusion of the fireworks display, to numerous fires inside the arena and outside the arena in the fields surrounding the Camplex grounds.

At 10:21 p.m. to Willow Creek Drive for a grass fire

At 10:38 p.m. to Tabiano Road for a grass and chicken coop fire.

At 10:40 p.m. Coal Train Road for a grass fire.

At 10:54 p.m. to HWY 51 for a 2-vehicle collision.  Minor injuries reported and patient care was provided by firefighters and ambulance personnel.

At 11:07 p.m. to Hayfield Place for a grass fire.

At 11:15 p.m. to Willow Creek Drive for another report of grass and tree fire.

At 11:16 p.m. Road Runner Drive for a report of 3 separate fires.

At 11:23 p.m. to Bell Road and HWY 50 for a report of a grass fire and possible structure fire.

Also, thank you to this amazing community who came and enjoyed morning pancakes, sausage, and coffee with us on this Independence Day!  We truly enjoy interacting with our community members in such a positive way.  Thank you to those who came out to the parade as well and we look forward to celebrating another beautiful Independence Day next year with you all.
