Written by broebling on September 14, 2017
Eight Marines were rushed to a San Diego burn center and seven others were also hospitalized after their amphibious vehicle caught fire during a training exercise at Camp Pendleton yesterday.
Among the seriously injured was Tagen Schmidt who graduated Campbell County High School in 2016, and enlisted the same year.
His sister, Ashley Trujillo said he was currently in the ICU Burn Unit, with 3rd degree burns across his face and upper body and being intubated.
She said her family would like to send their love and support to all families in crisis.
The Range 307 has set up a donation fund for Marine Tagen Schmidt. Tagen was injured yesterday in a training accident and is in critical condition. Tagen is a graduate of Campbell County High School. He is part of the 1st Marine Battalion, 3rd Amphibious Assault Battalion stationed at Camp Pendleton CA. This fund will go directly to Tagen’s family to help with his recovery and also to help with the family with their travel and support of him. Please feel free to stop by the Range 307 and make a donation or call 622-9006. Every little bit counts.
