Gillette College to Host Tech Battle Day

Press Release – Gillette College will host a Tech Battle Day this Friday, Feb. 16 starting at 9 a.m. at the Technical Education Center. Sixteen teams made up of high school juniors and seniors from all across Wyoming and parts of South Dakota will take part in a skills competition in the areas of welding, diesel, machine tool, and industrial electric, all programs offered at Gillette College. The students will compete to win prizes and $7,000 in scholarships to the college.

The teams will be comprised of four students each, and the challenge will not be revealed to each team until they arrive at the event. Prizes will include, welding helmets, a grinder, a tool bag, jackets, screwdriver sets and more. The students will also have the chance to enjoy a fun and interactive day at the Gillette College Technical Education Center with the college’s outstanding faculty.

The schedule of events is as follows:

9 a.m. Welcome

9:45 – 10:30 a.m. First Challenge

10:35 – 11:20 a.m. Second Challenge

11:30 a.m. – 12:25 p.m. Lunch

12:30 – 1:15 p.m. Third Challenge

1:20 – 2:05 p.m. Fourth Challenge

2:05 – 2:30 p.m. Final tally of scores

2:30 p.m. Awards Ceremony

The event will be held at the Gillette College Technical Education Center, located at 3251 S. 4-J Rd, Gillette, WY 82718.

We wanted to create an event that allowed us to showcase our labs and provide in-depth interaction with our faculty to future students,” said Shannon Henshaw, Enrollment Counselor for the Gillette College.
