CAMPBELL COUNTY CVB RECEIVES FINAL STRATEGIC PLAN TO GROW SPORTS TOURISM

Written by on October 31, 2018

Press Release –  On the heels of a four-month process, the Campbell County Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) received findings on a sports tourism strategic planning project to increase sports tourism in Campbell County and help grow the region’s tourism impact through sports.

The Huddle Up Group presented its recommendations to the CVB, community stakeholders, and elected officials during four separate presentations over a three-day period from Oct. 29-31.

The project entailed formulating a strategic plan for the CVB to product results within the sports tourism market, with three main focus areas: (1) use of capital (human, financial, and physical), (2) community engagement, and (3) short and long-term action items. The final report included three primary (short-term) and three secondary (long-term) recommendations.

The strategic plan’s major theme centers on a shift from national level sports marketing to locally created events that drive tourism to the area while targeting the CVB’s resources on that work plan. Long-term recommendations touch on venue development opportunities and national best practices for facility funding models.

“The Campbell County Convention & Visitors Bureau in Gillette and Wright, Wyoming, is thrilled to have partnered with the Huddle Up Group and its team on our Sports Tourism Strategic Planning Project,” said Mary Silvernell, Executive Director of the Campbell County Convention & Visitors Bureau. “We are excited about the findings and recommendations, that will serve as a strong foundation for future sports tourism in Campbell County, which will drive additional overnight stays and economic development impact.”

The CVB’s contract with the Huddle Up Group includes a Champions Circle Membership where the consultant team will provide monthly support through 2019 to support the CVB staff with the plan’s execution.

“We enjoy working with the team in Gillette. The CVB staff and their stakeholders were very supportive throughout this process,” said Jon Schmieder, Founder + CEO of the Huddle Up Group. “We believe the game plan we will help them put in place will positively impact the community over the long-term. We look forward to our continuing work with the CVB and its leadership going forward.”
