Updated Occupancy and Use Special Orders on the Bighorn National Forest

Written by on May 30, 2019

heridan, WY-May 21, 2019- Bighorn National Forest officials recently completed updates to occupancy and use special orders.  These special orders are the rules that provide for resource protection on the National Forest.

Existing orders were expiring and administrators saw the opportunity to consolidate several repetitive orders.  The new order, BNF-2019-01, is the consolidation of three existing district orders to one forest-wide order that applies to camping, campfires, dogs, parking, or other activities in restricted areas and facilities on the forest.  No new restrictions are in place, this order reflects existing regulations but puts them in one place to eliminate confusion and repetition.

Order, BNF-2019-01, is a continuation of waste and camping regulations that were developed for the West Tensleep Corridor along Forest Road 27 in 2013 to improve water quality and protect public health.
